It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and so many of us have amazing traditions that help make the holiday season even more special.
One of our favourite holiday traditions at Mitch is our annual charity raffle that takes place every December. Organized by our Social Committee, this event was started five years ago as a way for our team to raise funds for different charities that are doing fantastic work to support Canadian communities. Some of the organizations that our teammates have donated to in the past include Autism Ontario, Feed the Need in Durham, The Denise House and The Super Sophia Project.
This year’s charity raffle saw our teammates raising $2,550 for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Founded over a century ago, CMHA provides programs and resources to support mental health and advocates to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness.
The $2,550 donation is the largest one our teammates have made to date. Since 2018 they have given over $10,000 through our annual charity raffle, which makes all of us at Mitch incredibly proud.
“Lovable insurance means that we’re always working to make good things happen for our customers and communities,” said Krista Durham, an Underwriter at Mitch and co-chair of our Social Committee. “As a company, we support a number of different organizations but our charity raffle gives all of our people the chance to give back as well. It’s something everyone on the team looks forward to each year and is a great way to celebrate the holidays.”
“There are so many incredible charities making positive impacts in our communities, so it’s usually tough choosing which one we want to support with our raffle,” said Al Maggi, a Senior Writer at Mitch and co-chair of our Social Committee. “This year, coming out of the pandemic, we all agreed that mental health was the most pressing issue we wanted to support. CMHA does great work, and we’re happy do our small part to make sure that work continues.”
